VIDEO: RAKU FIRING

Watch the process of firing raku pottery. The raku pieces are fired in a gas kiln up to about 1800ºF. Once this temperature is reached the kiln door is opened and each vessel is placed in a container of combustibles. After about 15 minutes the pieces are removed, cooled and then scrubbed to remove the carbon deposits.
